A transformative title sequence conceptualized for a streaming series adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Grounded in the novel's exploration of ambition and isolation, this project reinterprets a classic gothic narrative for a contemporary audience. Built over an intense one month timeline, the final motion piece unifies haunting historical symbolism with sleek digital manipulation.
Approach
Reimagining gothic horror through a contemporary lens by layering distressed textures, anatomical experimentation motifs, and volatile visual disruptions in Adobe After Effects.

To honor the novel's themes of isolation and the dangers of playing God, the sequence benchmarks the pacing, texture, and tension of iconic titles like Se7en and Dexter: Original Sin to deliver a fresh, modern experience for modern viewers.
The visuals juxtapose gothic atmosphere (fog, graveyards) with the sterile grit of creation (surgical tools, specimens behind glass).
The motion design is timed to a dramatic, orchestral score reminiscent of Philip Glass, punctuated by ambient distortions and abrupt sonic disruptions to maximize viewer anticipation.

Reflection
Interpreting this classic story through a modern lens taught me how to honor historical context while using contemporary tools to make it resonate in today’s digital culture. It proved that storytelling is an incredibly flexible medium that can structurally evolve without losing its core thematic meaning. Ultimately, this project deepened my mastery of how motion graphics, texture, pacing, and complex symbolism must work in perfect harmony to build a truly visceral, unified mood.
