Hi, I’m Nick Gardner, a designer whose path into design took a few unexpected turns through science, healthcare, psychology, and visual storytelling

I grew up in Florida, where I first became interested in visual storytelling and how ideas can be communicated through design. Through family friends, I had the chance to see original sketches from Disney artists, including sketches of Lilo & Stitch and Monsters, Inc. These early experiences sparked my curiosity about the creative process and how ideas can be brought to life.

However, life took me in a different direction when I joined the Army as a combat medic (healthcare specialist). After serving for four years and earning an honorable discharge, I spent over a decade in healthcare, working in roles ranging from Mental Health Clinic Coordinator to an Advanced Clinical Associate. These experiences gave me a deep appreciation for human behavior, psychology, and the importance of clear communication.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I found myself rethinking my path. While my passion for healthcare was fading, my curiosity for design never left. I decided to return to school to study Visual Communication with an emphasis on Motion Design, while also minoring in Biology to stay connected to my love for science and human behavior.

Today, I enjoy blending research, psychology, and design thinking to create thoughtful user experiences and motion driven visuals that communicate ideas clearly and effectively.

Outside of work, I’m an avid foodie with a passion for exploring new cuisines. I enjoy staying active through exercise, hiking, and fishing, as well as expressing my creativity through drawing. In my downtime, I love immersing myself in video games and cherishing quality time with my family.
